United Fresh introduces Footprints
Making carbon transparency simple for every client.
Your impact, made visible.
Pioneering a new standard in foodservice!
From December 2025, United Fresh displays the total CO₂ footprint of every order on all client invoices.
This innovative feature, called Footprints, is powered by Klimato and represents an important step toward greater transparency across our shared supply chain.
Footprints provides a single CO₂ figure for each order, giving clients a clear view of the emissions associated with their purchasing activity. The data is calculated using Klimato’s verified lifecycle assessment methodology, which considers emissions from farming and growing through to processing, packaging, transport and delivery.
This development places United Fresh among the pioneers of carbon transparency in the foodservice industry, helping set a new standard for accessible and credible Scope 3 reporting.
This work supports chefs, caterers and procurement teams with the information they need to understand and report their Scope 3 emissions. Scope 3 is widely recognised as the most challenging category of emissions to measure, and Footprints brings clarity to an area that is often difficult to access.
Speaking about the launch, our CEO, Christian Paynton said:
“Our aim is to make sustainability information approachable, trustworthy and genuinely useful. Footprints gives our clients a clear understanding of their impact and supports them in making informed and responsible decisions.”
This release is the first phase of a wider data project at United Fresh. Future development will focus on offering even greater visibility and insight.
Our commitment to progress:
Footprints has been designed to remove barriers, not create them. We will not require anything from clients will simply see a new CO₂ line displayed at the top of each invoice. For clients, as we believe this information shouldn’t be behind a cloak of mystery. Scope 3 is notoriously the hardest data to gather for carbon emissions, we want to continue to be a partner to our clients by aiding them in this data. We are truly committed to being a sustainability partner, not just when we are asked.
“We believe that transparency builds trust. By making carbon data visible, we are taking a meaningful step toward a more responsible and collaborative food system.” – Christian Paynton, CEO
